Sorø is a town in Sorø municipality on the island of Zealand in east Denmark with a population of 8,271 (2023). It lies on the northeastern shore of Sorø Lake. The municipal council and the regional council are located in Sorø.

Sorø Municipality is a kommune in the Region Sjælland on the island of Zealand in east Denmark. The municipality covers an area of 317 km2 (122 sq mi), and has a total population of 30,444 (2023). The main town and the site of its municipal council is the town of Sorø. Other towns in the municipality are Dianalund, Stenlille, and Ruds Vedby.
